Engine update:

The Behotec 180 is a previous generation engine.

 The Frank 180 has a higher efflux velocity, ( for high speed UAV and models ), carbon fiber inlet lip and chevron exhaust.

We recommend setting up high performance jet engines according to the best practices for fuel systems and high temperature management.

 

 JB-180  features:

The JB-180 is a new addition to our Behotec engine line. This is the entry enigne to the legendary 160 format Behotec line, featuring a lower price and phenomenal thrust to weight ratio. Behotec was able to drop the price of this engine thanks to part commonality with the other bigger brotheer in the line; the JB-190 and JB-220.

This engine features the following specific points:

All new aluminium and steel design: no plastic parts are present on the engine except for the plugs.  New engine casing shape and tail pipe shape for 2013.

High quality dual ball bearing starter motor. 

Black anodized inlet and gold anodized compressor  enabling a very high resistance to dust abrasion of these parts. 
 
CNC machined compressor, diffuser and outer casing from aero grade aluminium billet. 
 
 

 
 
 State of the art GRW 6000 series hybrid ceramic bearings made in Germany.

 Laser cut and welded full Inconel combustion chamber (world premiere).

 

 


Custom machined Inconel fuel sticks with stainless steel diffuser needles.

 

 

 

Bespoke ceramic burner with specific positioning enabling very positive and predicable starts.

Bespoke in house designed and produced Inconel turbine wheel and CNC Machined NGV.  

 

 

 

 

Patented self centering rear bearing system. Including exclusive lubrication and cooling pattern keeping this area of the engine very cold.

Integrated temperature sensor with TGT reading (not an EGT reading: much more predictable and precise but reads higher temperatures than an EGT because it is located in front of the turbine wheel).

 

 

 

The all new exhaust pipe and inner cone are CNC machined from billet high temperature steel. 

They feature 6 Laser welded fastening tabs ( world premiere ) and 12 fastening screws with a specific high tolerance seal. 

 

The new exhaust flange is slightly conical and is completely sealed thanks to tight tolerances and a small lip on the outer casing.
